Our Story

My name is Greg West, I grew up in Portland Texas, and I pole vaulted all through High School. I then furthered my pole vaulting career in college by going to Southern Methodist University (SMU) for 2 years and transferred to Texas A&M University (TAMU) for my last 2 years. I held the TAMU school record for 26 years, and was a 4 time all American in college. I went on to jump professional for another 3 years after college. I obtained a contract with Reebok racing club as a professional. My main accomplishments as a professional were that I won the 1993 US Indoor Championships and represented my country on the 1993 World Championship team. I have many years of coaching and experience under my belt with numerous state champs along with state qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and district champs. I started West Athletics Vault Crew for the sole purpose to give back something to the event that I so dearly love and competed in for many years and took me all over the world competing.
